In Seclusion
I've gone to the mountains to train. Now before you write this entry off as a cheesy 70s kung-fu flick, let me explain. I'm spending this 4-day weekend in Truckee (near Tahoe) visiting my cousin Bill at his cabin.

Sure, we've done some fun stuff like check out shops around the lake and hanging out in Reno and Virginia City. But I'm leaving for Advanced Leadership Camp next Wednesday and I've got to be ready for it. So far, I've gone over the OPORD format in fine detail and rehearsing it in my mind. I'm also trying in earnest to stay in shape as well. Let me tell you this, when you're 7000 ft. above sea-level, you really do feel fatigue set in a lot quicker than you were in the Bay Area. My legs are still sore from doing wind sprints and lunges! I think I still need to go over the details of task organization and patrol base procedures.

Now, I've found some time to have some fun in all of this. I've finally watched Finding Nemo and saw Ronin for the umpteenth time (for me anyway). I'm gonna see Open Range and Seabiscuit tonight.

Last night, on Sci-Fi, I finally saw the Stargate SG-1 episode where Dr. Frasier dies. Just hearing her blood-curdling scream left me a little on edge. It was a very dignifying way to end her character. As it was well-written, it was rather somber. I really, truly liked her character. Yes, she's adorable. But I also liked her for the principles that she stood for.

I'm a little reluctant to go home because people (well John actually), remembered that my birthday was coming up. You can say that I'm a little anxious. If its going to be anything like last year, everybody's gonna try to do stuff to me. argh!
