Golden Moments
I don't know where to begin here. So much happened this last weekend that I don't even know how to put it all down in words. The commissioning, time with family, time with the woman, time with friends... As always, I'll put in what I can and fill in the blanks later...

Thursday started well. I spent much of the day running errands like dry cleaning and stuff like that. I picked up the chica from the airport after getting a birthday cake for Pei-Hua. Went to Cupertino to hang and that was it.

Friday started with a rehearsal for the commissioning ceremony in the morning. I dropped my better half at a local Starbucks so that she could study and stuff. The rehearsal seemed to go rather smoothly. Afterwards, we met up with Alvin and Jen for lunch in San Mateo. On a side note, she seems to be rather good with animals as she was with Jen's rabbit. Man, if only A and J knew how much mischief that thing gets into when they're gone. That thing is crazy. Afterwards, we met up with Pei-Hua and Deborah (who's up here doing her clinical at Stanford) at Hillsdale and drove up to SF to meet up with their former roommate, Serena. I must say, Burmese food is real good. Who would have thought....the best part of this meal was the salad. Man, I've got to learn what they did. Wow.

Saturday was the big day. I woke up with a nervous feeling in my bowels. For one thing, my short film was going to be part of the ceremony. For another thing, I had to say a few comments about my film before the audience filled with families and VIPs. Man, oh man... It was a little sad to know that some of the folks that I invited cancelled at the last minute. I would have liked to have given those seats to others I wanted to invite. Rats. Anyhow, as I was called up to give my comments, I had no real idea what to say. I don't like giving speeches from cards since it seems a little contrived to me. So, I said whatever that was on my mind. Even though I stuttered a little, I'm sure that some people were able to read my sincerety. As it turned out, the film was a huge success. I had all kinds of people walking up to me thanking me for the film. Holy cow!! After the ceremony was the reception. Then after, we hung out at Santana Row. Even as of now, I still can't get used to the fact that people will just stop what they're doing just to look at some dude in uniform. Makes me very self-conscious. Later that evening, we went out to dinner at East Lake. After some dessert, Alvin tried very hard in teaching me Euchre. Mind you, I'm usually terrible at picking up card games. Argh. After the Davis crew left, I spent the evening with the significant other. A nice and restful end to a very very big day.

Sunday came about with up picking Deborah for church. We went to church and met Pei-Hua there. After service and lunch, we hung out at Pei-Hua's to celebrate her birthday. After bumming around and having some meaningful talk, the chica had to go. Althought I felt rather sad, I understand that she had to go. Later that evening, I met up with John and the rest of the usual suspects for a late night snack.

In hindsight, it was a beautiful weekend that marks the end of a chapter for me. New horizons are out there. Also, I am thankful of helpful she is. She's wonderful. More on that later.

You may now call me "sir."
