Shows
I can't say that I ever really got into reality TV. To me, it's a misnomer, really. I mean how are you gonna act like yourself if you know that millions of people are going to be watching you? Honestly...

Well, as of late, there have been some non-reality shows that I've taken a liking to:

I've been watching the new Battlestar Galactica with Alvin recently. My goodness, this show just blows me away. Yes, some epic tales are just immense, but this show takes the cake. I mean the scope and gravity of this sci-fi show is ethereally large and yet the issues that it hammers deep into the heart of all that makes us human. Seriously, this show is worth watching. And if any of you ever served in the military, you'd appreciate the great lengths they went through to capture its essence. Wow.

Been watching episodes of Monk too. I love this show. I think it's hilarious. I love detective shows, but this one is refreshing as it is humorous. Tony Shalhoub is awesome. The fact that it's filmed in the Bay Area makes it all the more special to me too!

What the??
Yes, I know. I haven't been writing. It's too bad because lot has been happening. What's interesting is that while I've had some time to write about stuff, I haven't been too motivated to write. Well, would you know it, I'm sitting in front of a computer at SJSU and I haven't got too much going on right now. I'll try to recall all that I've been up to. Sorry if it isn't in chronological in order...

This year started with a snowboarding trip that Amy planned. I joined up with her friend Francisco here in SJ and flew down to LA. Had dinner with her some of her friends and saw Pak as well. Afterwards, we all drove up to Mammoth for snowboarding. It was lots of fun. Interestingly, we were up there while there was the huge storm that was blasting all of California. During one of my runs, both my glasses and my goggles fogged up. Funny thing here is that I didn't know I was falling until I actually hit the ground. My back compressed somehow. Fortunately, Amy's rommate knew a thing or two about massage. That had to have aided in my recovery. Anyhow, even with the calamity of our vehicles being buried under snow, it was still fun and exciting...like were were on a mission of sorts. All in all it was an awesome trip. Kudos to Amy for planning this trip.

Before the school year started, I kept myself ocupied by doing some design stuff here and there. Not too much I can say here.

Thanks to all of you who are around to talk (especially about deeper stuff of life). Thanks so much.

My Dad's in China right now. Mom will be leaving to meet him on Tuesday. Wish I could go.

There's a lot more I'd very much like to say. But for now, I'll draw this to a close. I promise it wont be too long for my next entry.

More Stargate SG-1 Litany
I just finished watching all of Stargate SG-1 season 7 on DVD. Sorry if this is going to sound like litany, but I proclaim that it is still the best Sci-Fi series out there. Why is that? Because it's not cookie cutter Sci-Fi, that's why.

I tend to get tired of how some Sci-Fi series' can be so deadpan serious and predicated on just special effects. There's little human substance to it and it just gets tiring. In light of today's "reality" based shows and a plentitude special effects, it's refreshing when a show can cover more bases than it's own genre. At the heart of it, I yearn for character driven storylines like this one.

As far as SG-1 is concerned, try and imagine a Sci-Fi series that tends to blend geo-political intrigue, smart dialogue, subtle humor, and whip smart wit that the common man can identify with. I mean even if you don't like Sci-Fi shows, at least you can watch it for it's deep character development.

Anyhow, after watching all the episodes (not in one sitting, mind you), I have plenty of raves to be raving about. First off, Richard Dean Anderson's (Col. O'Neill) cynicism and wit are good for the show. Also, I have garnered great respect for Amanda Tapping (Maj. Carter), Christopher Judge (Teal'c) and Michael Shanks (Dr. Jackson). I mean not only do I esteem them as actors, but also as a director and screenwriters, respectively. I also appreciate Don Davis as General Hammond. I mean how many real former military officers do you know that are convincing actors? Lastly, Teryl Rothery's (Dr. Frasier) exit from the show was a very poignant one. Although I'm pissed that she's not on the show anymore, that episode is certainly one to remember. My goodness, I really like how this show just comes together.

To boot, I like the lead-in to the Atlantis series with appearances with other high caliber actors like William Devane(24) and James McDaniel(NYPD Blue). For added realism, they even had the Air Force Chief-of-Staff as a guest star! I'm gonna miss this show when it goes away someday. For now, I'll appreciate it for all that it is in the here and now.

Whew. Looks like I've had a lot to say about this. SG-1 FOREVER!!!

First Ramblings of '05
Yes, the title is less than extraordinary. Please hit the 'back' button if you can't jive with it.

I can't believe a year just went by just like that. Holy smokes. Although 2004 was interesting, I can't say that it was all that memorable. I mean sure, there were some great moments. But even then, 2004 came and went without too much groundbreaking discoveries. In fact some things were just downright depressing. I do realize that you can only do so much complaining. Life can get like this at times.

However, the one failsafe that I have in this life is that I like to spend meaningful time with people. It never fails.

As far as New Year's resolutions go, I resolve to be more disciplined with how I spend my time. Can't go wrong here.

I wish you all a blessed and meaningful new year. Hopefully, I'll see you all from time to time.
